Who is Neo!?

Hello and thank you so much for being here. This is the website where I will house all of my professional/ amateur ventures! I hope you learn something, are inspired, or at least simply enjoy your time while here!

Background:

My name is Neo Henri-Lee Harter. I am a third year undergraduate student at UCSB, double majoring in History (BA) and Global Studies (BA). I come from a single mother household, a farm actually, located in Northern California rice country. If you search for “Chico, Ca” on the maps, then you will see the area that I grew up in, surrounded by thousands of acres of rice and farm land. This is where my mom chose to raise my younger brother and I! You can say I am among the one percent of the worlds population that lives on a rural farm…crazy right!! Anyways…

I attended Colusa Highschool, and here are some of my notable accomplishments from my time in school there:

  • 4.3 GPA, Principal’s Scholar

  • Captain of two sports teams (Track and Cross Country)

  • All League Runner

  • Sacramento Valley League Champion

  • Division III Northern Section Champion

  • Most Valuable Player

  • 1st place in Colusa Lions Club Annual Speech Competition

  • Most Improved Piano Player, School Band (this one is super special!)

  • Upward Bound Graduate!!

  • Army/Special Forces Scholar - given a medal for graduation

  • Officer in two clubs (Spanish and Art Club)

  • Production Director of an On-Campus Organization “The Redhawk Broadcast” (produced news content for the school and community)

  • Script Writer for “The Redhawk Broadcast”

Now I attend UCSB, and here are some of my notable accomplishments there so far:

  • Dean’s Scholar

  • Founded my own media company, Farm Boy Meets The World, or FBMW!!!

  • Completed my first research paper/project (see ‘Writing’ section)

  • Joined the Platoon Leadership Course, PLC (USMC Officer Program)

    • I was assigned a leadership role and given 30+ other Candidates to lead and manage within 1 year!

  • Began my blog on this website!!

  • Performed in a Theatre play that one of my best friends directed!

My Mission Statement

After having sat and thought about how to word this for quite awhile, I would say that my mission:

Is to help as many people as I possibly can in their goals to reach higher education, gain access to key opportunities and knowledge groups, and help create a new generation of educated, young leaders who are not afraid of anything.

I want to help my generation in our fight to earn a similar wage as our parents. I want to make America a truly democratic place again, that legislates on behalf of the PEOPLE in schools and in the streets, not in the corporate offices and shiny coffers.

I want to recreate a culture of Self Help positivity, where books such as Ultralearning , Atomic Habits, and Rich Dad Poor Dad continue to guide young people like me towards greatness.

I am tired of standing on the sidelines. It’s my turn to do something.
